Howdy!
We are Nick Bafia and Julia Stamey, two recent grads from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Class of 2019 and 2021), and we made a feature-length musical film to submit to the 94th Academy Awards.
Why a musical? The Oscars has a category for "Best Original Musical". And you're thinking, "I've never heard of that"... well that's because it hasn't really had enough eligible submissions in recent history, due to the lack of original musical films in mainstream media and the lack of awareness for the category. With enough eligible submissions, OUR TEAM has a shockingly real chance at being nominated for, and potentially winning an Oscar! This sounds ambitious... but in the Spring of 2019, Bafia-Stamey Productions wrapped filming on our entirely original, mostly-student-produced, feature-length musical film, Fix. A team from Georgia Tech has also been working on their own original musical film! And we are contacting other films released this year, in hopes that they submit their musicals to activate the category! We figure, even if we don't win an Academy Award, we can be proud to accomplish such a large project as students and aspiring filmmakers, while inspiring others to aim high with their art! Thank you for visiting our site and being interested in our project. We look forward to collaborating with you AND thank you for your support! Sincerely, Bafia-Stamey Productions Nick Bafia and Julia Stamey [email protected] |
